The question on how realistic video games should be is one that doesn't have any good answer. However, an Animal Crossing: New Horizons parody video shows that maybe it's for the best that your idyllic island town isn't following along with the real world.

The video, modeled after Nintendo's usual update videos for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, announces a "Virus Update" where everyone on the island has to quarantine due to the spread of an unnamed virus (but we all know what the culprit is, don't we?) The update comes with exciting new features like trying on sweatpants and baggy shirts, getting updates on the virus from Isabelle on your Nookphone, or asking Orville about vaccine availability. Unfortunately, Tom Nook's shop is closed, and he's the only one getting the vaccine, but at least you can still get online deliveries!

Missing all your favorite villagers? You can still hang out with them while following social distancing by waving outside of their homes or talking to them on Zoom. For those players looking for some meta escapism, they can use their in-game Switches to play the original Animal Crossing. But it you really want to go down the meta rabbit hole, you can play one of the collectible NES games from Animal Crossing while playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons!

If you want to know more about the actual newest update in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you can find it here.
