A xenomorph roaring in Aliens Dark Descent

Tindalos and Focus Entertainment have released a brand new Aliens Dark Descent story trailer, delving into the dark and horrifying world of the upcoming squad-based tactical action title. Judging by the trailer, you're in for a ride that's both action-packed and terrifying, which is what you'd expect from an Aliens game.

As the trailer opens, we're introduced to the world of Lethe, where a spacecraft known as the Otago has crashed. The crash triggers the activation of something called the Cerberus Protocol, a planetwide lockdown which prevents ships from leaving or docking. Good thing there aren't any hulking xenomorphs running rampant and killing everyone, right?

Of course, Weyland-Yutani is caught up in all of this, just like they always are, and colony director Barbara Pryce is thinking of nothing but the profit motive. Also mixed up in things are Maeko Hayes, deputy administrator of Lethe Pioneer Station (and our protagonist to boot), and US Colonial Marine sergeant Jonas Harper. The story trailer is fairly elliptical, but it gives a good impression of a game that looks like it'll slot into the Aliens canon perfectly.

If you've missed the Aliens Dark Descent hype so far, let me bring you up to speed. It's a tactical action game in which you'll command a squad of hardened marines as they go up against the terrifying threat of the ever-present xenomorphs from the Aliens movies. You'll command your squad in real-time, slowing the action to a crawl in order to issue commands and then watching your perfectly-timed strategies go off without a hitch (or, more likely, watching your marines get eaten by xenomorphs if you're me).

Aliens Dark Descent is scheduled to arrive on PC, PlayStation consoles, and Xbox platforms on June 20th, so you'll get the chance to delve into this story of alien horror and corporate duplicity next week.
