Our Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Cooking Guide will tell you how Cooking works along with a list of every Recipe and Specialty Recipe we've found!

Exploring the Map of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is the fast track to working up a heck of an appetite. Sure, you could feed some fruit to your Ikran -- but why not treat yourself to a good meal, too? In this guide, we'll teach you how Cooking works and why it's worth your time to do it.

How Cooking Works

Cooking in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora seems simple enough at first, but it's actually more complex than you might think. Every Recipe is made up of two ingredients, but which ingredient you put in which slot affects the end product.

The Primary Ingredient will add a temporary effect to the finished Food. Meanwhile, the Secondary Ingredient adds to the duration of the buff based on the average of the two ingredients. That means if you want to get a particular effect from an ingredient, you should put it in the Primary Ingredient slot.

You can only have 1 buff at a time from Food.

Normal Recipes vs. Specialty Recipes

There are also two kinds of Recipes in the game: Normal Recipes and Speciality Recipes. Normal Recipes will give you one buff and can be made of any ingredient in a class. You can use literally any Egg (of the multiple types available) and any Nectar (of the multiple types available) and you'll get a Sweet Egg Fry every time.

Speciality Recipes are different -- they require specific, exact ingredients. That said, they also come with a boon -- you'll get two buffs instead of one.

Best Food to Cook

The best Food to Cook, generally speaking, is whatever best suits your needs at the time. If you prefer stealth, you'd want something like Fish-Stuffed Mushroom. Conversely, those of you who prefer a straight-up fight might want to get blast resistance from a Steak Egg Fry or Bark Skin I from a Rich Meat Roast.

Aside from your needs, you'll generally want to aim for Speciality Recipes if you can; you can only have 1 buff at a time, but these special dishes will let you have 2 buffs simultaneously!
