Metro 2033 Redux is the enhanced version of Metro 2033, a game based on the compelling novels by Dmitry Glukhovsky. In a world ravaged by nuclear hellfire, the people of Russian manage to stay alive solely by staying underground in the Moscow Metro.
In Metro 2033 Redux, you'll travel through cavernous underground tunnels, fighting off bandits and mutants alike. You'll also have to contend with your fair share of strange phenomena that no one can actually explain — are they the ghosts of the dead or something else entirely?
You'll also head up to the surface, but this is much more challenging in many respects. The air quality is terrible and it's only through the use of your handy gasmask that you'll be able to survive. You're on a clock, though; the repeatedly recycled air filters won't buy you much time!
Metro 2033 Redux features several improvements over the original Metro 2033 including greatly enhanced graphical efficiency, graphical upgrades, and several other improvements that make it a smoother game overall. This game was rebuilt entirely in the same engine used to make Metro: Last Light.
In 2013 the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the Earth's surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age.
The year is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside. You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised underground. Having never ventured beyond the city limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat.
Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind. But what if the real threat comes from within?
