We’re already almost up to our second month of the year and if you were feeling bad that your New Year’s Resolution goals were already falling to the wayside then you can cheer up knowing Xbox Live’s Major Nelson has announced via his blog the Xbox Games with Gold titles that will be available for February 2017. For those who are unaware Games with Gold is a program where every month people who are active Xbox Gold subscribers get two Xbox One games and two Xbox 360 games, which support backwards compatibility. A game on each platform is released on the 1st and the 16th of each month.

For the entire month of February, subscribers will be able to download Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime a game where you play as the captain of a spacecraft with some really unfortunate designs. While your space ship has all manner of features from thrusters, to shields and more if you want to control any of them you need to walk to a different station on your ship. If you’re in the pilot seat and it looks like something is about to collide with you have to either navigate around it or quickly run to your shield controls and hope you have enough time to rotate it into place. On the 16th of February, you can take a break from the skies and hit the roads instead in Project Cars Digital Edition. In this racing simulator, the mix of graphics and real world handling helps you really get in the zone, and in the seat of a high-powered car. As well as the ability to create your own driver and participate in a career mode there are also online races that you can participate in with up to 15 other players.

For Xbox 360 fans on the 1st of the month you will have the ability to download Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck’s Revenge. Getting an upgrade from the original point and click adventure you now get to actually take control of aspiring pirate Guybrush Threepwood. Your goal on this adventure is to search the island for the long lost treasure of Big Whoop. LeChuck even makes a return now in a zombified state after the events of the original game, and guess who he wants to get his hands on the most… Improved with direct-character controls and an interactive object highlight the Special Edition is a great improvement over the original.

When Monkey Island 2 is no longer available for free on the 16th of February, instead you will be able to turn to the dark side with Starkiller, Darth Vader’s secret apprentice, in Star Wars The Force Unleashed. Taking place between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope you get to learn the ways of the Sith hunting down Jedi Masters, mastering your new abilities, and breaking a lot of things on the way.

What do you think of February’s line up of titles? Is there any that you’re really looking forward to? Can you recommend any of these games for people to play?

I have been playing all kinds of games for as long as I can remember with a particular interest in action adventure and platforming titles. While I am primarily an Xbox gamer I also spend a fair bit of time on the PS4 and on my PC in VR.
