Dontnod's action-RPG Vampyr is getting a slight upgrade next week, with brand new difficulty modes being added to the title on the game across all platforms.

According to a press release, two new difficulty modes are being added to the title, Story and Hard Mode. Story Mode is what you expect, a light, simple experience that de-emphasizes the game's combat in favor of the game's narrative. Hard Mode increases the challenge instead, including lessening the experience received from killing enemies. This will force players to be more likely to embrace NPCs, one of the more unique mechanics in the game and one of the few ways to guarantee large experience gains to level up.

Another addition is Nvidia Ansel support for the PC version of the game, allowing for players to capture screenshots of Vampyr in action. Nvidia Ansel also allows players to share their screenshots in 3D on mobile phones, the PC or VR Headsets.

The full patch notes for the update next week have been posted already by Dontnod, along with an announcement for the Steam version of the game. Starting yesterday and until September 24th, Vampyr, along with another 50 other Focus Home titles are on sale, in celebration of the Focus Home Weekend sale. Vampyr itself will be 33% off, with other titles up to 85% off.

Vampyr was released earlier this year to mixed reviews. The game has the player portray Dr. Jonathan Reid, a newly turned vampire who must struggle to save London from the Spanish Flu epidemic in 1918 while grappling with his new vampiric powers and growing hunger. The game is currently available for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
