UPDATE: This is an update to the news story detailing the nominees. It has been updated with the results of each category in bold, as well to reflect that the event is no longer ongoing.

Last night, the Geoff Keighley produced awards show celebrated the gaming year and included an array of announcements regarding new games to be released in 2015. The show, simply called The Game Awards replaced Spike’s VGX awards and was held at the Axis in Las Vegas.

The Game Awards show, available via live stream only featured a tribute to Roberta and Ken Williams, the creative couple behind Sierra On-Line, as well as twenty-one awards to be presented. Sixteen of these awards were the result of a jury consisting of major video game figures including Hideo Kojima (Konami, Kojima Productions), Reggie Fils-Aime (Nintendo), Phil Spencer (Microsoft), Martin Tremblay (WB Interactive), Shawn Layden (Sony Computer Entertainment America), Peter Moore (Electronic Arts) and the undisclosed presence of Rockstar Studios and Valve. Along with these are five categories voted for by fans.

Below are the awards to be given tonight, split between Jury and Fan voted categories and in no particular order.

  • DynastyStar

    yeah I know XD

  • >Best Online Experience
    >Destiny (Winner)

Uh, isn’t that game critically bad with online experience?

  • Ryan Barrett

This award show is retarded and no one should support it.
Clarification: for the amount of shit these journos give Nintendo about “death is around the corner” and “the WiiU is dead and failed” and etc etc – they win “best dev?” PUH-LEASE. The same game was nominated twice for best fighting game, just on a different console? Are you kidding me? There were FAR more than 3 *GOOD* fighting games released.

OHHHH yes, I completely forgot the entire show is just a glorified advertisement. My mistake, carry on.

  • Spectrumpigg

I wish that Bayonetta 2 won best action and best game. Shitquisition just looks like shit. And also wolfenstein should’ve won best FPS due to an extremely polished game.

  • J Amundsen

I really wish that the behind the scenes discussion on these were released so we could get to know WHY one game over another got game of the year.
