The Subnautica PlayStation 4 release date has been announced in a news post on the game’s official website.

Subnautica is a game where players find themselves deserted on an alien world. You’re fortunate to have an escape pod that floats – the majority of the game world is covered in water. Escaping the planet will involve a hefty amount of exploration so as to uncover the grand mystery behind your ship’s accident.

It’s a pretty good game and console players will get their chance to check it out now that the Subnautica PlayStation 4 release date has finally been revealed. You should be able to pick up a copy of the game on December 4, 2018, barring some kind of development catastrophe that pushes things back. (Developer Unknown Worlds Entertainment cautions that a delay is possible in such a scenario, although they hope it won’t come up.)

The game will be available for purchase on physical disks as well as digitally via the PlayStation Store. North America should see discs on store shelves on the Subnautica PlayStation 4 release date. Prospective European customers will have to wait a few days extra; they’ll be able to get a physical copy on December 7.

Unknown Worlds Entertainment revealed the next step in the Subnautica story back in August with the Below Zero standalone expansion. It will be some time before PC users get their hands on it and PlayStation 4 gamers will probably be able to buy it at a later date.

If you haven’t had a chance to play Subnautica, you can pick it up for $24.99 or your regional equivalent on Steam and the Humble Store. Xbox One owners can get it at the Microsoft Store for the same price. You’ll be able to get a PlayStation 4 copy when it comes out for that console on December 4, 2018.
