DICE has released a significant new update for Star Wars Battlefront 2, an update which brings the game up to version 1.2 and includes a hearty amount of new content, gameplay tweaks, and bug fixes.

The 1.2 update, which is now live for all versions of Star Wars Battlefront 2, makes sweeping changes to a large portion of the game’s playable hero roster, nerfing overpowered heroes like Emperor Palpatine and Chewbacca while buffing heroes like Luke Skywalker and Iden Versio. The dodge roll maneuver which all Trooper classes and some Hero characters can perform has also been reworked since it was a little too powerful in its original state, granting a large window of invulnerability against enemy attacks.

Other features which have been added in with the 1.2 update include tweaks to certain profile milestones to make them more manageable (milestones are now also automatically claimed upon completion), new map locations for use in custom Arcade matches (locations like Hoth, Endor, Jakku, and more), an increase in credit payouts for duplicate items found in loot boxes, and a whole range of general bug fixes. The full patch notes for update 1.2 can be found here.

Update 1.2 also marks the beginning of Star Wars Battlefront 2’s limited-time Jetpack Cargo game mode in which two teams of eight players duke it out while equipped with jetpacks. Lastly, the above patch notes post confirmed that DICE will soon be implementing a series of limited-time challenges which, when completed, will unlock a series of exclusive skins for Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia which are based off their Hoth outfits from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. While the challenges will only be available for a limited time, the skins will be permanent once unlocked.

One final note is that the 1.2 update seems to have also introduced a bug which makes it so that all weapon attachments that normally buff a weapon’s cooling capabilities don’t function, at least according to this Reddit post. A similar bug is also making it so that the Explosive Shot attachment isn’t causing weapons to overheat more quickly as intended, leading to some weapons being extremely overpowered. Hopefully, DICE will implement a hotfix for the issue soon, but in the meantime consider yourself warned if you want to dive into the 1.2 update’s new features.

Next month, DICE will be sharing details on the revamped progression system it is working on for Star Wars Battlefront 2. A new content season is also expected to arrive shortly, though DICE hasn’t provided a clear timetable as of yet.
