During the PC Gaming Show 2019 conference this Monday, we saw an interview with Patrice Désilets of Panache Digital Games about Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. Patrice talked more about the game, giving more details about the game, talking about how you don’t play a single character, but a whole tribe of Homo sapiens as try struggle to survive amidst the dangers of prehistory. The developer also confirmed the release date for the game on August 27, 2019. So far what we have seen of Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey has been mostly jungle, where the hominids are able to jump from tree to tree and vault over the forest at leisure. Today we saw a bit of a new savanna location, where you can evolve your hominid as you play through the game, with adaptation being the most important theme in the game. In order to create a more authentic survival experience, the game deliberately cut back on tutorials. Everything you learn, from fishing to stealing honey from beehives, you will learn by yourself.

In the interview segment supported PC Gaming Show sponsor Epic Games, the development team went into greater detail on the evolution systems that will work as RPG elements for players. Once you have learned how to survive on your own, you will be able to grow your own clan, support new generations, and evolve over the course of eight million years, though not in real-time, thankfully.
