Ambitious survival game Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is coming to consoles. The game will launch for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on December 6th.
Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey sees you taking control of a primate clan as they try to survive in a hostile Neogene African landscape. Developer Panache Digital Games describes the core mission of the game as "explore, expand, and evolve". Each time a new generation rolls around, you'll pass down knowledge and information about surviving, but also about the beginnings of human civilization. As you play, choices will organically emerge: will you play it safe or venture out into the unknown for a better shot at survival? You can check out the console trailer for Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey below:
In gameplay terms, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is an open-world survival RPG. The vast savannahs and tropical jungles of Neogene Africa hide deadly animals that you must outsmart in order to survive. Rather uniquely, the game spans an eight million year period. You control various different clan members, each of whom will have knowledge passed down from their ancestors. The choices you make will directly impact how your clan evolves, what knowledge gets passed on from member to member, and how effectively you can survive against the many dangers of your environment.
Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey will launch for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on December 6th. No word yet on a Switch release, so watch this space for more info.
