Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey PC Release Confirmed For August 27

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey was first revealed by Patrice Désilets, the creator of Assassin's Creed, in 2015. In 2017 we reported that the game would no longer have an episodic format. The latest news from the past year was the reveal of the first gameplay trailer at the Game Awards 2018, and last March we reported that it would be an Epic Games Store exclusive. Now developer Panache Digital Games and publisher Private Division (a Take-Two subsidiary) have announced that the game will release first for PC exclusively on the Epic Games Store on August 27, with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One releases coming later in December. Pre-orders will be available in the coming months.

The developers are excited about the announcement of a release date, and the studio of 35 developers can't wait to share with players the world they have created, which is inspired by science and evolution. Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is a third-person action game set at the dawn of human evolution, 10 million years ago, as the first Homo Sapiens emerged. You'll play as a hominid, climbing trees and exploring the primordial forest as you struggle to survive and make sure your tribe survives.

Panache Digital Games have release two "101 Trailers" so far, showing more of the game in action with some commentary from Patrice Désilets. The first trailer, called Explore, features a lot of jumping around on trees, at one point with a hominid carrying a baby hominid on its back. It also shows some of the jungle dangers that players can expect, such as gigantic serpents and saber-toothed tigers.

The second 101 trailer is called Expand, and it shows more commentary from Désilets, with a closer look at the hominids and their clans, and it shows a clan exploring a savannah, a hominid trying to break a coconut with a rock, a couple of hominids eating each other's lice, and so on. Apparently the game will also feature some fear hallucinations especially when a hominid is separated from its baby.

A third trailer is expected, called Evolve, and it should be released soon. As already noted, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey will be an Epic Games Store exclusive, but only for the first year, after which it will be available in additional stores, such as Steam, where it already has its own game page.

Are you looking forward to Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey? Do you think the game looks like a realistic view of early Homo Sapiens? Let us know in the comments below!
