It’s time to dust off your copy of XCOM 2, because there’s new battles to be fought and plenty of content to explore with XCOM 2: War of the Chosen – Tactical Legacy Pack.

As of today, you can download this free DLC if you own both XCOM 2 and its War of the Chosen expansion. Don’t wait, because it’ll only be free until December 3rd, 2018, then you’ll have to buy it for $7.99.

This DLC adds three new modes: Legacy Ops, Resistance Archives, and Skirmish Mode. There are 28 brand new maps made for Legacy Ops. There are also several new weapons and armor, and customization options for soldiers such as new helmets, attitudes, and photobooth options. Lastly, three new soundtracks from XCOM: UFO Defense, Enemy Unknown, and War of the Chosen.

You can read more about the content from in our previous article or the official post. If you want to see Legacy Ops in action, the XCOM YouTube channel released a new video on it:

At the time of this writing, there have been reports that the DLC is having startup issues. Steam user comments seem to indicate widespread crashes, but the developer is aware of it and is working to fix this problem.

Now is a great time to play XCOM 2 and its War of the Chosen expansion, which are on sale on both Green Man Gaming and Steam. It’s a great game and expansion, and the Tactical Legacy Pack is the cherry on top. If you haven’t tried it out, XCOM 2 is having a free weekend on steam as well.

Disclosure: Green Man Gaming works with TechRaptor for affiliate partnership, and TechRaptor earns a small commission off purchases made from some links in this article. In addition, Green Man Gaming provides benefits to our Pack Hunter members.

Quick Take

I can’t say I’m very surprised that there are launch issues with this DLC. That said, it’s free, and I’m not going to complain. I also trust that the developers will fix this issue very quickly. I can’t wait to dive into XCOM 2 again and put another dozen hours or so into it.
