Starting on July 4th, you and up to three other friends will be able to group up to explore the open-world of Watch Dogs 2, according to a recent post on the Ubisoft Blog.

The four-player party mode comes to the game as part of a new update that will also make some smaller quality-of-life changes to the game, including the ability to skip the cinematic that plays when you use the 3D printer.

To start the party mode, you simply create an open or closed party and let others join you. Up to four people can be in party, according to the post, and you can even let the game matchmake for you if you're okay with playing with strangers.

Once grouped up, you can continue to do some of the things you would normally do in the game alone. For example, you can still clear out red-zones and instigate cop chases. On top of these things, you will also be able to play through Bounties, Invasions, Loot Trucks, Races, Showdown, Man vs Machine Robot Fights, and the DedSec Virus events in party mode.

It does not, however, seem like you will be able to start any side or main missions while grouped up.

Watch Dogs 2 producer Kris Young said the following about the update in the Ubisoft Blog post:

It’s something we’ve been thinking about for a long time. It’s always more fun to be in a team, and the online modes we have are great, but we really wanted to expand on them. We also pay attention to what our community is saying, and it’s something they’ve been clamoring for, so we’re happy to finally make it available to everyone.
Besides adding four-player coop, the upcoming July 4th update will also add some Independence Day related things to Watch Dogs 2. Throughout the month of July, fireworks displays will appear over the city of San Francisco in-game. Also, the paintball gun will shoot red, white, and blue pellets throughout the month.
