Obsidian is one of the many resources that you'll need in The Planet Crafter, although you won't have to worry about it too much until you've progressed Terraforming and Biomass towards your final goal of a living planet. In this guide, we'll tell you everything you need to know about Obsidian!

Obsidian Uses in The Planet Crafter

One of the most critical uses for Obsidian is Teleporters — you'll need a single piece for each Teleporter that you want to build. Traveling around the Map on foot can get pretty tedious, so this usage alone should make securing a small supply of Obsidian a priority as soon as you can build Teleporters.

You're also going to need Obsidian to make the Fusion Energy Cell. This item is needed for some high-end crafting, and it's also used to open up unpowered doors on some of the wrecks that you'll find throughout the world. You'll miss out on a lot of loot without them!

There are only a handful of other uses for Obsidian as of The Planet Crafter 1.0 such as the Microchip - Map. Filling two or three Storage Crates (or a single Locker Storage) should be more than enough to last you until you've finished terraforming the planet, so don't invest too many resources into a massively complex mining operation.

Where to Find Obsidian in The Planet Crafter

There is only one place where you can find Obsidian naturally in The Planet Crafter in our experience, and that's in the Lava Pits to the southeast of the map.

• Cave Description: Obisidian is mined above ground by placing an Ore Extractor on the darkened sand; you can also find loose Obsidian and Iridium in the area.
