Warcradle, the team behind Wild West Exodus, has announced Dystopian Wars Third Edition to launch at the start of 2021. The new edition will be the first version entirely produced by Warcradle since they acquired the property in late 2017. This latest edition will feature expanded rules and marks Warcradle's first game to be produced entirely in house.

The release of Dystopian Wars Third Edition will see the release of a brand new 2-player starter set, "Hunt for the Prometheus". The new set includes enough miniatures for 2 players to battle it out on the high seas, as well as the essential accessories you'll need to get started, and the revised rules. As this is the first edition produced by the game's new owners, they've been very careful according to Chris Pond and Stuart Mackiness, the Assistant and General manager of Warcradle respectively:

“Warcradle Studios have made every effort to broaden the rules to diversify from the first and second edition by Spartan Games. We want the original players and enthusiasts to know they haven’t been forgotten. It's been a long road, but the end result is worth it”

Dystopian Wars - Start Set
The new starter set will come with everything for 2 people to start playing Dystopian Wars

Dystopia Wars is set in an alternate timeline Victorian-era where technology advanced 100 years before it did in our timeline. The players control one of 8 factions and do battle on the high seas with a mixture of cutting-edge technology and steampunk chic. Each player has their own fleet and must try to outwit or outlast their opponent using superior tactics.

The upcoming release of Dystopian Wars is a big deal for Warcradle. For a relatively small UK-based studio to be producing everything in-house for a miniatures game is quite a challenge. Here's what Warcradle's Managing Director, Richard Lawford, had to say on the subject:

"It's a huge milestone for Warcradle Studios too, as a small, UK based manufacturer/design studio. The idea that it's all "manufactured in the UK" and not China, was mentioned as a KSP previously.”

You can pre-order the new starter set from the 18th of December at Wayland Games and many other online stockists around the world.
