The Mass Effect board game announcement
According to an official press release from Modiphius, this tabletop adaptation of the sci-fi trilogy will focus on a mission from Mass Effect 3. Set in the middle of the Reaper War, the Citadel Races are overwhelmed and on the verge of losing. But hope lies in the actions of Commander Shepard and their crew.
Officially titled Mass Effect The Board Game - Priority: Hagalaz, the game has Commander Shepard and their team entering a research cruiser from the terrorist organization Cerberus that has crashed in front of a deadly storm. With the storm approaching, Shepard must lead their crew through the cruiser, uncover its secrets, and confront the dangers inside.
This Mass Effect board game is a co-operative story-driven experience for 1-4 players. It features a branching narrative campaign with branching paths based on your choices, allowing for multiple playthroughs.
As you play through the campaign, you can customize and upgrade your squad's abilities, equipment, and powers as they gain experience. In addition, you can complete optional loyalty missions, which will unlock unique powers for each character.
Players can take on the role of either male or female Commander Shepard, Turian soldier Garrus Vakarian, Asari biotic Liara T'Soni, Quarian engineer Tali Zorah, or Krogan warrior Urdnot Wrex. The game will include highly detailed 36mm scale pre-assembled plastic miniatures of all six main characters.
The Mass Effect board game is designed by Eric Lang and Calvin Wong Tze Loon. Lang has plenty of experience adapting beloved properties with his work on Munchkin Dungeon and Bloodborne: The Board Game. The game will be released through Asmodee later in 2024.
