The first games being added to Xbox Game Pass in July have been announced, and there are some very solid prospects on the list indeed. Starting today, you'll get to play one of the most iconic crime sandbox games of all time, and through the next week or two, you can expect sims, shooters, and strange adventures.
As announced by Xbox, the first game coming to Game Pass this month is Grand Theft Auto 5, which you can play today on console and cloud. It needs no introduction; you already know the tale of Michael, Franklin, and Trevor, but if you don't, then the Game Pass version is available on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, so now's the time to experience it.
Also being added today is Sword and Fairy: Together Forever, a Chinese action RPG blending ancient mythology with wuxia martial arts and classical aesthetics. This game was originally announced for Game Pass last month, but you're finally getting a chance to try it out on PC, console, and cloud today.
Tomorrow, you'll get to check out pixelated absurdist adventure McPixel 3, which throws another series of hilarious mishaps your way and asks you to solve 'em. Next Tuesday brings "squatter settlement simulation" Common'hood and modern warfare shooter Insurgency: Sandstorm, and, of course, July 14th brings the mighty dino shooter Exoprimal, a day one release for Game Pass.
Following these, on July 18th, two more games will be added to Xbox Game Pass. They are Techtonica, a factory sim that can either be played solo or co-op, and The Cave, an idiosyncratic adventure game brought to you by Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion head honcho Ron Gilbert. It's a bumper crop this month!
