Digital Extremes is hosting its annual TennoCon conference, and announced Warframe crossplay and cross-save, as well as a new Warframe mobile version.
When is Warframe Crossplay and Cross-Save coming?
Warframe Crossplay and Crossave were revealed, but there is no timetable for their arrival. Instead, Digital Extremes revealed they are in development. Additionally they said that Warframe's crossplay and cross-save will come to all platforms, including mobile. It is however, working internally. This means that players will be able to take their accounts across to various platforms. At this time, there is no information on how they will reconcile situations where players have accounts on multiple platforms already. This is made more difficult by the fact that on PC premium cosmetics are bought with cash, while on consoles it is with the premium currency platinum.
What is this about Warframe mobile?
The other biggest announcement is that Warframe is coming to mobile devices. Like crossplay and cross-save, there was no date announced for the mobile port at this time. The choice to do a mobile port makes a lot of sense when you consider that Digital Extremes is owned by Chinese giant Tencent (at one step removed via the subsdiary they acquired last year in Leyou). The Chinese gaming market is more interested generally in mobile ports of core games, not considering the controls such an issue compared to Western markets.
