The Walking Dead: Destinies Will Let You Rewrite Key Events From The Show

AMC and GameMill have announced The Walking Dead: Destinies, a new narrative-led action-adventure game set in the world of the titular zombie show.

The game will cast you as Rick Grimes, and you'll play through a number of key events and moments from the show, visiting locations like Atlanta, Woodbury, and the Greene farm.

Much like the iconic Telltale series (which won't be getting a fifth season anytime soon, it seems), you'll make choices at these junctures, and those choices will determine who lives and who dies.

Unlike the Telltale show, though, these events will be based on those of the show, so it's sort of like AMC's What If...?. You can check out the debut trailer for the game right here.

Per an IGN reveal for The Walking Dead: Destinies, key characters like Michonne, Daryl, and Shane will appear alongside Grimes, and each character will have their own abilities.

Destinies will focus on resource management for its gameplay, so you'll have to look after your weapon and ammo inventory.

The trailer also shows Grimes sneaking up on zombies for stealth kills, as well as moving past a horde of zombies on a catwalk above, so it seems that stealth will be a key part of the game.

Gameplay details for Destinies are somewhat thin on the ground right now outside of this initial reveal trailer, so exactly how the game will play is something of a mystery. From the sounds of it, though, GameMill's game will be much more active and involved than Telltale's effort.

This isn't the only game currently being worked on in the universe of The Walking Dead. Earlier this year, a tabletop RPG based on the IP was fully funded on Kickstarter in just 24 hours, so it looks like the undead franchise is far from shuffling off this mortal coil.
