The UK boxed sales charts for this week are in, and it's Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's race, it seems.

The perennially popular racer, which was in third place last week, has reached pole position for the week ending August 19th, shunting Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga off the top spot.

Traveller's Tales and Warner Bros shouldn't be too worried, though, because Lego Star Wars is still sitting in second place, which is pretty impressive considering it's also available via Game Pass.

In third place this week, it's FIFA 23, which will be the final EA FIFA game owing to the impending debut of next month's EA Sports FC 24. Supposedly, this change was down to a licensing dispute between EA and FIFA.

Fourth place goes to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which was sitting at around 18.5 million units shipped at last count. By now, that number will almost certainly have increased, so Nintendo has a bona fide hit on its hands.

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate takes fifth place, although it remains to be seen whether the fighting game can keep its spot after its successor Mortal Kombat 1 launches next month.

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is still hanging on in the UK boxed sales charts.

Sixth place goes to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, which will soon be succeeded by Modern Warfare III. Development on the new game will be led by Call of Duty: Vanguard studio Sledgehammer Games.

In seventh, it's Minecraft once again, and in eighth, microscopic real-time strategy game Pikmin 4 claims its spot. It's nice to see Nintendo's latest bite-sized exploration game hovering around the charts.

Ninth place belongs to Hogwarts Legacy, which has pretty doggedly stuck around in the charts since its release earlier this year. Finally, in tenth place, it's Nintendo Switch Sports.

That's all for this week's UK boxed charts! What will be number one next week? Stay tuned to TechRaptor to find out.
