When you think about the announcement of a new AAA game, you probably expect spectacular trailers and fanfare, but this wasn't the case with Tom Clancy's The Division 3.
Ubisoft announced that Julian Gerighty has been appointed as executive producer of The Division brand, and in the post, we get the mention that he will focus on building a team for Tom Clancy’s The Division 3, spearheaded by Massive Entertainment.
That being said we also learn that Tom Clancy's The Division 2 will still be supported.
The reveal was accompanied by a statement from Gerighty himself:
We may have over 40 million players, but The Division is still in its early years as a franchise. There are so many incredible stories to tell, places to explore and people to protect.
I think that we delivered that with Tom Clancy’s The Division’s cutting-edge visuals, incredible gameplay, and promise to the player that they can't get this experience anywhere else, and then again with Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. It’s about refinement, it's about pushing the quality bar consistently forward.
There are a huge number of talented developers currently working on the brand, and I think that having more consistency can only make everybody's work sing.
That being said, Gerighty won't immediately take on the new role, as he will wait to ship Star Wars Outlaws, in which he plays the role of creative director.
He's a veteran of The Division franchise, having worked on both previous games as associate creative director first and creative director later.
For the moment, no further details were shared about Tom Clancy's The Division 3, including any hint about its release window or platforms.
