Studio Rebellion Developments teases more of their 1930's pulp adventure game Strange Brigade, including some co-op gameplay and a release date for this August.
The first video released today just showcases more of the games campy style. It promises several new videos about the game over the course of E3, including interviews with the Rebellion staff and a stage show presentation of the game at E3 this year.
The second trailer, also promised from the teaser, shows off the game proper. We see the quartet of heroes battling hordes of mummies, scorpions and skeletons in the Hidden Valley level in Africa. The combat is third person, over the shoulder style as numerous guns, grenades, and even magic are used to battle hordes of enemies across the level. We also see hints of puzzles players need to solve and likely objectives that need to be accomplished.
Some of the guns highlighted include a massive blunderbuss, a BAR machine gun, and a flamethrower. The guns were used for pretty much everything, from solving puzzles to even triggering massive traps and world objects across the map, including classics such as barrels rolling down a big hill. Killing enemies increases the amount of gold you acquire, although the function of this in-game other than keeping score is unknown at this time.
One other feature showcased was the ability to use magical artifacts. It seems each character can equip a magical amulet with special powers attached to them. The powers give each player specific abilities, from shocking enemies with lighting to having quick reflexes with their guns.
The trailers blurbs also note that registering for Rebellion's newsletter Strange Brigade is scheduled to come out later this summer, on August 28th, 2018. The game will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC. Players who also pre-order the game now will get the Secret Service Weapons Pack, featuring three gold-clad guns to add to your adventurers' arsenal at launch.
