Today Square Enis posted a message for Final Fantasy XVI fans on its social media channels, warning against possible leaks and spoilers.

Apparently, some physical copies are already out in the wild, as it often happens with this kind of release, but Square Enix isn't going to sit idly and just let it happen.

The developer has encouraged fans not to share any aspect of the game including screenshots, videos, or livestreams, until the game has launched, and vowed to take down any that they find.

You can read the full message shared on Twitter below.

We're aware that a small number of physical copies of Final Fantasy XVI are being circulated. We are in the process of a thorough investigation into illegitimate acquisitions and are acting to limit this ahead of the official launch of the game on June 22nd.

For those who receive a copy ahead of launch, we kindly ask that you do not share any aspect of the game; including screenshots, videos, and livestreams, until after Final Fantasy XVI  has officially launched.

Our priority is to ensure that the full game experience is not spoiled for our fans, and to do that we will be taking down any images, videos, or streams published ahead of lunch day.

We ask for your assistance and cooperation in this final week ahead of launch. It's almost June 22nd, and we can't wait for you to experience the full game the way the development team intended.

Sincerely,
the Final Fantasy XVI team

Final Fantasy XVI will release for PS5 on June 22. If you'd like to learn more, you can read my preview and enjoy our interview with producer Naoki Yoshida and art director Hiroshi Minagawa. Recently we learned that PlatinumGames and the Kingdom Hearts team at Square Enix helped out with development, albeit the specific parts of the game they worked on will remain a mystery until after its launch.

A demo is already available to download from the PlayStation Store, providing an extensive look at the game's prologue and battle system. Just yesterday, we also saw the release of a lovely trailer focused on the theme song by Kenshi Yonezu.
