An in-game shot of Rocket League

A new update is coming to multiplayer arena ball-'em-up Rocket League. The October update promises some suitably spooky shenanigans, as well as some quality-of-life updates. It'll hit all platforms simultaneously in just a few days.

The third installment of Rocket League's annual Haunted Hallows event is nigh. Psyonix is promising to "flip what you expect" from the Haunted Hallows event. There will be some more info about Haunted Hallows later this week, so stay tuned. What we do know is that Candy Corn will return and that you'll be able to dress up your Battle-Car in some truly terrifying regalia.

It's not all spooky fun though. The October Rocket League update is also adding some gameplay tweaks to make your experience a little better. Psyonix is adding a Party-Up option to post-game lobbies so you can quickly join up with teammates you enjoyed playing with in the last game. The Boost Meter will now reflect your team color so you can better see which team everyone's on.

Starting a game is getting easier too. From the time of the update, you'll be able to hit a Quickplay button to quickly start searching for a game in the last playlist you joined. If you're new, you'll default to the 3v3 Standard mode. You'll also notice a new News Panel which has been optimized for your convenience. Lastly, Psyonix is adding two new esports teams to the Shop rotation: Complexity and Spacestation Gaming. Items corresponding to those teams will start appearing in the Shop following the update.

Plenty to get stuck into for Rocket League aficionados. If you want to read the full patch notes, you can do so here. The October update for Rocket League will launch for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on October 14th.
