Leonardo Interactive and Smallthing Studios have released a brand new Simon the Sorcerer Origins trailer, as well as announcing a new release window.

The trailer teases the return of the cult classic point-and-click adventure series and shows off some gorgeous 2D animation. It's more of a sizzle reel than a narrative trailer, but it does give an impression of what you can expect from Simon the Sorcerer Origins.

Unfortunately, the trailer is also accompanied by a release window pushback; Leonardo and Smallthing's game will now release in 2024 rather than 2023.

Still, the new trailer is welcome, and it means this intriguing project hasn't been forgotten about or abandoned like Simon the Sorcerer 6 was. Here's the trailer for your enjoyment.

The trailer gives us a look at a number of characters and locations. We see Simon himself, of course, as well as what appears to be Calypso, a wizard who appeared in both the first and second games.

We also see a shrewd-looking shopkeeper, who looks on as Simon transforms into a pixel version of himself briefly in a nice nod to the classic series.

Locations in the trailer include the Bloated Goat Inn, the aforementioned shopkeeper's shop, and what appears to be Calypso's study. If you're a fan of classic point-and-click adventure games, it looks like Simon the Sorcerer Origins will deliver.

Simon the Sorcerer's revival brings to mind Return to Monkey Island, last year's revival of the legendary adventure series that boasted the involvement of original director Ron Gilbert.

We're not expecting a Simon the Sorcerer Sea of Thieves crossover anytime soon, though (although chance would be a fine thing).

Simon the Sorcerer Origins is set to launch for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch sometime in 2024. Stay tuned for a more specific release date as soon as we get it.
