During today's Xbox Games Showcase, Xbox gave us a new look at Senua's Saga: Hellblade II. This trailer is all about Senua's journey and what she'll have to go through as she wanders the land, trying to distinguish what's real from what her mind is telling her.
In the new Senua's Saga: Hellblade II trailer, we're reintroduced to Senua and the myriad voices that talk to her in her head, both leading her astray and protecting her from potential threats. A monstrous presence in a cave talks to Senua, calling her a "madwoman" and a "witch" while the voices entreat her to "do something".
As the trailer proceeds, Senua's voices tell her she "can be whole". She says that everything she has seen and everything she has done has "led [her] to this place", and the voices tell her that she's "come so far" and that she is "ready" to face her next trial. The monstrous voice asks who those around Senua are: those she's saved, or those she's "led to death". As ever, this trailer is best viewed with headphones, so grab a good set.
Everything you see in the trailer above is captured on Xbox Series X, so it looks like Hellblade II will indeed be utilizing the power of the next-gen console, just like Ninja Theory promised back in 2019. The game looks like it'll continue the methodical action-adventure gameplay of the first title; you'll likely be solving puzzles and engaging in hack-and-slash combat, but we're yet to see a full gameplay reveal, so we'll have to wait and see what Ninja Theory has in store.
It's fair to say this trailer was pretty light on gameplay, but it does a good job of reintroducing Senua's dark world and the determination she shows while she navigates it. Senua's Saga: Hellblade II is coming to PC and Xbox Series X|S sometime in 2024, so watch this space for more info.
