The closed beta of Sea of Thieves has faced a few technical issues, and Rare has extended it until January 31, 2018, according to an announcement on the game's official website.
Sea of Thieves recently kicked off their closed beta on January 24. Beta Access is open to gamers who have joined the game’s Insider Programme before December 1, 2017, as well as anyone who pre-ordered the game. If you headed out into the real world to get a physical pre-order, you'll have to redeem your Black Dog cosmetic pack code to get into the beta. As for what exactly is planned for it, you can get a bit more information about the beta by checking out the trailer for the event:
Unfortunately, the Sea of Thieves closed beta had a bit of a rough start. Gamers who bought digital pre-orders were met with a "Too Early" message when they tried to access the beta, prompting Rare to get to work with Microsoft to get this issue sorted out. A fix for this issue should be in by now, but players still encountering this particular problem should head over to the dedicated support article for this error message.
As a result of these issues, Rare is extending the closed beta until January 31, 2018, at 3:00 AM Eastern Time. The Design An Achievement contest has similarly been extended, affording fans of the game a bit more time to work their magic and take a shot at winning an exclusive piece of signed artwork. The game just finished a maintenance cycle for the closed beta servers, so if you haven't yet hopped in now's as good a time as any! There are around four days left to enjoy the game before you'll have to wait for its release.
