Last month we reported that Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim was getting a western PC release, courtesy of XSEED Games. Originally announced with a release window for this spring, it has now been confirmed that the game will go on sale on Steam, GOG, and the Humble Store on April 28th - along with the new release date, XSEED has also announced that the game will cost $19.99 on all storefronts, with a 15% discount around launch. Furthermore - as a special treat for longtime fans of the series, the company has released a previously near-impossible to find artbook on the official Ys VI site, for anyone to download!
As mentioned in our initial report, XSEED's version of Ys VI will incorporate a variety of new features that the original Japanese release may have lacked. In Ys VI's case - this includes the standard widescreen and steamworks support, as well as the brand new Catastrophe Mode that XSEED detailed within their first Localization Blog a few weeks ago. A separate blog post having to do with re-translating Ys VI was also released today - which details some of the mindset and changes that have gone into re-translating a work - can be found here.
For everything else (including that Ys artbook!) XSEED has updated the official Ys VI website with a bunch of information regarding the game's setting, lore, and gameplay. If you're interested in the games system specs, they'll be attached below. As for now - are you picking up Ys VI when it launches later this month?
