After months of rumors, XSEED has confirmed their plans to release both Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim and Akiba’s Trip: Undead and Undressed on PC. Ys VI will see a release on Steam, GoG, and the Humble Store – while Akiba’s Trip is only currently announced for Steam. XSEED also confirmed that both games will have new exclusive features to their new PC versions of each game.
Ys VI‘s PC exclusive features include some new options that weren’t around in the original Japanese release, such as Widescreen support; but easily the largest addition is the new “Catastrophe Mode” that changes the healing system in the title to one that is closer to that of the previously released Ys: Oath in Felghana – making it so that picking up items will heal you instantly, and preventing players from storing healing items for later use. As opposed to the translation that was used in the PSP/PS2 release of Ys VI, XSEED will be using a different translation this time around – unrelated to the fan translation that the original Japanese PC release received a while back.
Both titles are scheduled to be released this spring, although more specific details regarding a release window and pricing for each of the titles are not yet available.
With this announcement, this makes 4 titles that XSEED is bringing to PC this year – with even more rumored for the months ahead. For example, a domain name for Xanadu Next was registered by the company earlier this year. Regardless of how this all pans out, one thing’s for certain. XSEED support for the PC has never been higher!
Any thoughts regarding these new announcements?
