Today the developers of Palworld at Pocketpair released an update on all platforms and commented about a couple of relevant topics including cheating and infinite loading.
First of all, the patch is numbered v0.1.3.0 on Steam and v0.1.1.1 on Xbox and Windows PC. The two versions follow different numbering standards.
Both versions are the same and aim to improve the experience by fixing some bugs and applying countermeasures against cheating.
Here are the fairly brief patch notes from the official Discord server
- Fixed a bug where the loading screen did not end when logging into the world
- Fixed a bug where the world date was not displayed correctly and appeared to reset.
- Corrected various incorrect text
- Countermeasures against various cheats and exploits
While the patch attempts to address cheats and exploits, the folks at PocketPair mention that it's not going to be a complete fix.
Currently, some players have been confirmed to be cheating on the official servers. We will apply a patch soon, but it is currently difficult to completely prevent all cheating immediately.
We will continue to focus even more on security and aim to create an environment where everyone can play with peace of mind. We sincerely apologize to all players who have been affected by this incident.
We also hear that players may still be encountering the infinite loading screens, and that appears to be due to a server load issue.
Following the recent patch, numerous logins are concurrently underway, leading to congested access. We are sorry for the inconvenience but please wait a moment before trying to connect to the servers.
Single-player, co-op and private servers should be relatively unaffected by this. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Just a few days ago, Pocketpair showcased an extensive early access roadmap for the game, albeit the immediate focus is on fixing the current issues.
In the meanwhile, the game continues to achieve higher numbers, having sold over 8 million copies on Steam. It has also surpassed 2 million concurrent players on the platform (according to the monitoring portal SteamDB), which is the second-highest peak concurrent number in the history of Valve's digital download platform.
