Square Enix has announced that Nier Reincarnation will end service in March, after one last story chapter has been released.
In a blog post on the official Nier Reincarnation website, Square Enix reveals that the game will shut down on April 29th at 10pm Pacific.
Prior to that, on March 28th, the final chapter of the game's The People and the World arc, which sees characters from previous stories banding together to defend the Cage, will be released.
The People and the World's third act, Transmigration, is scheduled to launch at 6pm Pacific on March 28th, so make sure to add that to your calendar if you're looking to wrap things up in Nier Reincarnation.
Several other Record and Variation event quests are also scheduled to be held between now and then, and Square Enix also says it will continue to add characters and other content to the game prior to shutdown.
Make sure to take a look at the full announcement post if you want to see everything Square Enix is doing to commemorate the end of Nier Reincarnation, including a final chapter countdown campaign, changes to certain rewards, and more.
If you're unfamiliar with Nier Reincarnation, it's a free-to-play mobile RPG set in the Nier universe.
The game features several distinct story arcs, each with its own cast of characters, although those characters come together and interact in the final arc.
Released in February 2021 in Japan, Nier Reincarnation launched in the West later that year, and crossovers with games like Final Fantasy XIV, Persona 5 Royal, and Dragon Quest would follow.
Square Enix hasn't technically given a reason for Nier Reincarnation's shutdown, but we can infer that the game likely wasn't popular enough to continue service, which is a shame.
For the moment, you can still play Nier Reincarnation right now on Android and iOS devices.
