Have you ever wanted to see some of your favorite childhood cartoon characters fight? Ever wanted to smash SpongeBob's annoying antics in the face? Well, if either of those apply to you, Nickelodeon has the answer with Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.

What is Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl?

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a platform fighting game that appears to pattern itself shamelessly after Super Smash Bros, this time using Nickelodeon characters instead of Nintendo ones. In it, you and friends (or, if like me you have none, AI) battle each other to find who will be the last cartoon character standing while using a variety of attacks, and avoid falling off the stage or being pushed out. There will be 20 themed levels, such as Jellyfish Fields from SpongeBob SquarePants, and the Technodrome from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It will feature online multiplayer, as well as 4 player local multiplayer in a variety of game modes, as well as a mixture of single-player modes that you can play. It is being developed by Ludosity (who are doing the fighting mechanics, engine, and character and stage design), and Fair Play Labs (who are doing graphics and animation), with GameMill Entertainment publishing.

What characters are in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl?

While there isn't a full list of announced characters yet, IGN reported a partial list of what they have revealed thus far:

  • Michelangelo (TMNT)
  • Leonardo (TMNT)
  • Nigel Thornberry (The Wild Thornberrys)
  • Powdered Toast Man (Ren & Stimpy)
  • SpongeBob SquarePants (from his own titular show)
  • Sandy Cheeks (SpongeBob SquarePants)
  • Patrick Star (SpongeBob SquarePants)
  • Olina (Aaahh!!! Real Monsters)
  • Lucy Loud (The Loud House)
  • Lincoln Loud (The Loud House)
  • Helga (Hey Arnold!)
  • Reptar (Rugrats)
  • Zim (Invader Zim)
  • Danny Phantom (from Danny Phantom)

This leaves some major questions such as where is the best turtle Donatello, or the angsty one Raphael. One notable IP in absence given Nickelodeon's ties to it is Avatar: The Last Airbender, which has an TTRPG coming out soon. It may be that they plan to save the IP for future support down the line. Analysis of the box-art has led some to think they see Cat-Dog, along with Aang, and Korra from Avatar.

What is the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl release date?

We don't have a firm Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl release date yet, however the trailer said that it would be releasing in Fall 2021. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Will there be a PC Version?

Later a developer on discord said there would be a PC version, which is in fact the lead platform for the game. Additionally according to a developer on discord, it will have GameCube adapter support.

Will Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl have Rollback netcode?

According to a comment made by the developers on Discord, there will be rollback netcode on 'supported platforms', which might mean some platforms don't support the feature (possibly the Nintendo Switch). They also separately confirmed it will have wavedashing, leading to a lot of excitement on the developers discord.

Can I see the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl trailer?

Oh right I forgot to include that. Here you go:

I hope that satisfied that request.

Updated story to add information about Rollback Netcode and PC version at 11:50 AM on July 13th.

Are there any characters you hope to see in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl? Anyone you want to beat up like I do SpongeBob? Let us know in the comments below!
