Iron Gate has revealed more information about what we can expect from the upcoming Valheim Hearth & Home update. The dev says it's still hard at work after enjoying a summer break, and that the Valheim update is still on track to launch this quarter.

What new Valheim Hearth and Home update details are there?

This news comes via a monthly development update on the Valheim Steam page. Despite a delay to the update's launch earlier this year, Iron Gate assures Valheim players that Hearth & Home is on track to release sometime this quarter. To tide you over, Iron Gate also provided a sneak peek of some of the upcoming features you can expect from the Valheim Hearth & Home update. First up, here's a look at the new coin stacking feature, which lets you assemble piles of coins to show off just what a wealthy Viking you are.

The devs are also adding an iron grate feature you can add to protect your plunder (or keep captives, or whatever else you want to do with it). In addition to the grate, you can also see the new treasure chest object, which lets you store wealth and supplies to make sure you don't lose them during a particularly nasty encounter with a troll.

What else is coming in future Valheim updates?

Along with announcing the Hearth & Home update delay back in June, Iron Gate also said it would be revising the game's roadmap in light of the delay. As such, we're not sure when we can expect future updates now, nor whether they'll contain the same features and improvements as they would have done prior to the delay. In theory, the next Valheim update will be the rather intriguingly named "Cult of the Wolf", which will focus on exploration, combat, and multiplayer elements. We'll have to wait and see when Iron Gate releases a revised roadmap.

The roadmap might have been pushed back, but the Valheim Hearth & Home update is still on track to launch this quarter.

There's also some good news on the Iron Gate front. In the post revealing the new coin stacking, treasure chest, and iron grate features, the developer also revealed that it's taken on three new staff members. A programmer, an animator, and a QA manager have joined the team, and no, that's not the start of a ribald Viking joke. Iron Gate says you'll be able to meet the new staffers and get to know them "soon".

We'll bring you more on the Valheim Hearth & Home update, including a potential concrete release date, as soon as we get it. Until then, you can get your hands on Valheim right now via Steam Early Access. It'll set you back $19.99, so if you want to pick it up, make sure you've assembled a little coin stack of your own.
