Do you have Ubisoft Connect installed on your PC? Does it jostle for space with Steam and GOG (and maybe even Epic) for pole position when it comes to your PC gaming habits? If you answered "no" to those questions, you may want to rethink your stance, as Ubisoft has announced a new beta for the Ubisoft Connect desktop app that's rolling out this summer.

According to a Ubisoft news post, the new app will bring "major changes" to features like your game library, the social aspect of the app, and video playback options, plus more. Creative director Charles Huteau says that player feedback has been key to redesigning the app, and that over the course of the beta's lifetime, more player feedback will hopefully shape Connect further.

The new game library will show you more information than it previously did; you'll get to see which games currently have updates pending, for instance, and you'll also get to see how far you've gotten in a game. New social features include revamped player profiles and a reworked social space that lets you see what others are playing.

Some under-the-hood improvements are also coming, although you're less likely to immediately notice these. Huteau says these improvements are "a great investment for the future" and that they'll allow Ubisoft to "future-proof" Connect. You should hopefully notice that the new desktop app is quicker and smoother thanks to these tech changes.

Ubisoft is currently rolling out the new Connect desktop beta to users "gradually", so you should hopefully see it appear on your desktop over the coming weeks. At the very least, the new version of the app should be live by the time some of Ubisoft's big announcements from this month's Forward showcase start to arrive. Stay tuned for more info on this, and in the meantime, you can download Ubisoft Connect here.
