The long-awaited new Steam library is now live on Valve's digital distribution service.
After months of development and testing, Valve has deployed the new Steam library to all of its users around the world. Several new additions to the user experience highlighted in the official announcement are going to make this much better than the previous version.
The most obvious change is the addition of the Home page. In short, it shows you the following all in one convenient screen:
- Recent updates to your games
- Games you've recently played
- Games your friends have recently played
- All of your games
This makes for a pretty neat hub that makes organizing your gaming time much easier. That isn't the only new addition, though.
New Steam Library Buffs Game Pages and Events
Games Pages and Events are also getting an overhaul with this new library.
As you can see in the above example, a game page will highlight any recent updates right at the top. To the right is a list of your friends who play the game, and your achievements are below that. The core of a game page is taken up with an "activity feed" that shows earned achievements, screenshots shared by friends, and more.
Events, too, are also getting improved in the new Steam Library. New Event tools will allow developers to push out a notification that will make it easier than ever for players to see when something cool is going on in a game.
You can tinker with all of the fun new features in the new Steam library right now. If you can't see it yet, restart your client to ensure that it updates.
