Today a large chunk of new gameplay of the upcoming action JRPG Granblue Fantasy: Relink has been shared, showing more of Cygames' magnum opus.
The gameplay was shared by the YouTube channel Arekkz Gaming, and it focuses on the first 40 minutes of the game running on PlayStation 5.
We get to experience a glimpse of the storytelling, some battle gameplay that serves as a tutorial, and then a visit to the first village, Folca. This includes a look at shops and a lot of conversation scenes, including the introduction of the new character Rolan.
Quite interestingly, the gameplay is fully voice-acted in English, so this is a good chance for you to assess the quality of the voice-overs for the West. It certainly looks like Cygames didn't go cheap on this.
Toward the end of the video, we also get to see the party menus and quest givers.
You can watch it below. I don't know about you, but I definitely feel that the long wait for this game is going to be worth it. A recent statement by director Tetsuya Fukuhara described finding the right visuals for this game as a "monumental challenge," but sticking to it certainly paid off.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink is finally coming on February 1, 2024, for PS5, PS4, and PC.
The game was announced all the way back in 2016, initially developed by PlatinumGames. It was delayed multiple times as Cygames Osaka took over full ownership of the production. If you're not familiar with the franchise, the original Granblue Fantasy is a very popular mobile game with a lot of Final Fantasy DNA.
If you'd like to see more, you watch the latest character reveal focusing on Ghandagoza on top of plenty more gameplay from the latest event.
Speaking of the franchise, Cygames will also release Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising this month, an evolved version of the fighting game Granblue Fantasy: Versus.
