A new Gord trailer has been released, introducing a brand new horrifying enemy type that you'll face in the upcoming colony sim. The Horrors are twisted demons that you'll either have to appease or defeat if you want to get rid of them, but killing them won't be an easy task.
In Gord's Slavic mythology-inspired world, you'll build and maintain a colony, shielding it from the horrors that lurk outside its walls. It turns out those horrors are, in fact, literal, as a new trailer reveals.
The Horrors were brought to Earth during the "Age of Misery", and their original purpose was to save humanity from the devastation it wrought on the planet. Now, however, they're a threat to your colony, and you'll need to deal with them to find peace.
Horrors, according to the trailer, are "the most powerful demons" in Gord. They will provide a source of "constant unease" for the player, providing yet another obstacle to your colony's happiness.
As you play, you'll be able to either satiate their hunger for whatever they want, or fight them. Of course, the former is easier, but you might be asked to give up anything from resources to "our kin" in order to get Horrors to leave you alone.
Some of the Horrors seen in the trailer include a demon with spines for hair, a Poison Ivy-style dryad, and a massive burning phoenix, as well as a withered old man with what looks like ice powers. It's not going to be an easy ride, that's for sure.
Gord arrives on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on August 17th. In his preview of the game, TechRaptor's William Worrall warns that it's not an "upbeat sort of experience", but that you may well love Gord if you love "dark experiences" and "disgusting enemy design". Sign me up.
