If you have been enjoying Netflix, chances are you have seen one of their major animated game adaptations. Now, Netflix has dropped several new trailers showcasing more incoming animated adaptations, including a Tomb Raider and Devil May Cry animated series.
The Netflix Devil May Cry animated series trailer
The Devil May Cry animated series trailer was the first trailer dropped by Netflix. Overall, the trailer is brief, showing a few seconds of the main protagonist Dante flipping through the air and firing his guns.
The trailer does confirm that this animated adaptation will be helmed by Adi Shankar, the same man behind the well-received Castlevania animated series, and will be animated by Studio Mir (DOTA: Dragon's Blood, Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts)
The series currently has no release date.
The second game adaptation revealed in this batch of trailers was Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix. This is another Adi Shankar-led production based loosely on the setting of Ubisoft's Far Cry: Blood Dragon.
The trailer itself is packed with cyberpunk-stylized violence and retro videogame visuals. In addition, it seems that one of Ubisoft's old platforming mascots, Rayman, will be in a supporting role as a news anchor.
Captain Laserhawk will debut on October 19.
Third is the first look at Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. This is an animated adaptation of Bryan Lee O'Malley's indie action rom-com comic Scott Pilgrim vs.The World.
Not only does the art style appear closer to O'Malley's original work, but the clip also showcases some familiar voices. Yes, the original cast of the Edgar Wright live-action adaptation: Michael Cera, Kieran Culkin, etc., have reprised their roles.
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off will debut on Netflix on November 17.
The fourth big trailer dropped by Netflix was an official Tomb Raider animated series. Titled Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, the trailer appears to be an adaptation of the 2013 reboot of the character.
This is clear in the broad strokes of the trailer. Lara is stuck on an island. She's beaten up. She primarily uses a bow. And there's a shot of her holding a photo with her supporting cast.
This animated series, like the Devil May Cry animated series, has no set release date.
Finally, fans of the Castlevania animated series got a sneak peek at the sequel series, Castlevania: Nocturne. This seven-minute sneak peek shows protagonist Richter Belmont as a child, the vampire Olrox, and some fast-paced gothic horror action.
Castlevania: Nocturne will debut on Netflix on September 28
