Today NextNinja and Anchor hosted a new livestream sharing what's coming for the recently-launched mobile game Muv-Luv Dimensions.
During the livestream, we heard from producer Masayuki Yamagishi that the next update is coming on August 17, and it'll include the ability to loop missions, performing them automatically over and over.
It'll also feature Chapter 3 of the main storyline, titled "Into the Labyrinth." Here's a summary of the plot.
The Immortals and the National Defense Force have finally infiltrated the underground passages of the Kokura hive. While the operation progresses, a certain incident causes conflict. However, the BETA keep attacking and casualties keep increasing, while our heroes are getting low on ammunition.
Will they manage to overcome the internal conflict and take control of the Kokura Hive?
At the same time we're also getting a new gacha banner featuring SSR Mana Tsukuyomi, SR Izumi Notio, and SSR TSF Type-00F Takemikazuchi (Yui Takamura's yellow version).
The banner will end on August 31, but you shouldn't feel too stressed about getting its featured pilots and TSF, as they will be added to the normal recruitment pools when the featured period ends.
Mana Tsukuyomi is a powerful melee attacker focusing on critical hits. Her active skill deals up to 3840% melee damage in the area of effect (you can see it in action in the original video).
Her passive skill increases her critical rate by up to 10% permanently and her melee damage by up to 3% every 30 hits she lands. This can be stacked up to 10 times.
Her EX-passive skill increases melee damage and critical rate permanently by 15% to any red pilot she's assigned as support to.
Izumi Noto is a ranged attacker and her active skill deals up to 2548% of her ranged damage within the area of effect (which you can see in the video) while increasing her movement speed by 30% and reload speed by up to15% for up to 30 seconds.
Her passive skill permanently increases her movement speed by up to 15%.
Her EX-passive skills permanently increases a green pilot's movement speed by up to 20%.
The new Takemikazuchi TSF's active skill has a 50% chance of triggering during normal attacks and deals up to 1302% damage within range, increasing critical rate by up to 30% for 10 seconds.
Its first passive skill permanently increases evasion and movement speed by up to 10% and a further 10% when piloted by a Japanese character.
Its second passive skill permanently increases its TSF skill damage by up to 10%
From August 17 to August 31 there will also be a double funds campaign, doubling the money you earn from the main story chapters 1-3 (both normal and hard mode).
On top of that, from August 17 to August 19 there will be a special gacha banner featuring SR Lilia Kjellberg to celebrate her birthday.
Lastly, below you can see the daily login special campaign that will be active until September 14.
Speaking about updates that may come further down the line, Yamagishi-san mentioned that the developers are considering Tower-type content, Ranked content, a TFS vs TFS mode, and a third-person camera, an experimental version of which you can see on the video.
It's worth mentioning that these features have not been promised, but are among the ideas the team is considering implementing.
If you aren't familiar with Muv-Luv Dimensions, it's a free-to-play mobile game for iOS and Android based on the popular Muv-Luv visual novel series, while featuring a different storyline featuring the same characters. It also includes the original visual-novel trilogy as an unlockable bonus.
The summer special event is currently active, alongside a banner focusing on Mitsuki Hayase.
For the moment, the game has been announced only for Japan. But hopefully, an English version will come down the line.
The Muv-Luv series is widely recognized as one of the best (if not the best) visual novel franchises of all time and one of the first isekai stories that had a strong influence on Japanese pop culture when the genre was still young.
It expertly mixes a tragic and romantic story with one of the best and deepest sci-fi worlds to date. To give you an example about its relevance, Attack on Titan mangaka Hajime Isayama has cited it multiple times as one of his main sources of inspiration.
Most Muv-Luv visual novels are currently available in English on Steam (while Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative have also been released on PS Vita) alongside the early access action game Project MIKHAIL: A Muv-Luv War Story.
