Microsoft Flight Simulator F4 Phantom Pulling Gs

Today third-party developers have shared news and assets about upcoming add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator, on top of a couple of relevant releases.

We start with new screenshots of the F-4 Phantom by DC Designs, this time focusing primarily on the cockpit including the Radar Intercept Officer’s back seat. While the gauges and screens are still missing (the screenshots are work-in-progress, obviously), the plan is to include similar functionality to the RIO's office on the F-14 Tomcat, with switches that all actuate but most being non-functional in the sim. As the simulator progresses and more features are added, functionality will be added.

Speaking of related news, DC Designs' sister brand SC Designs (or "brother" considering that the developer is literally the brother of DC Designs' main developer) has decided to cancel its payware C-17 Globemaster III. The reason is that a very good option is already in the works by Delta Simulations, and the developer doesn't want to create an overlapping product.

Next, Fly2High revealed a trailer of its next airport, which is Long Island MacArthur Airport (KISP) in the United States. Announced earlier this year, looks like it's getting close to its release. While it's not as big as some of its neighbors, KISP comes with a healthy mix of low-cost airline traffic and general aviation, so it's great to see a detailed version coming.

Speaking of big neighbors, iniBuilds released its massive John F. Kennedy International Airport (KJFK) serving New York, United States. it's currently available on the developer's own store for $25.04 with the following features:

  • Hand-made ground textures with crisp, bespoke texture sets (Runways, aprons, paths, roads)
  • True-to-life airport landside recreation with custom ground decals, signposts, vegetation, parking barriers and more
  • Accurately modelled and positioned dynamic airport lighting
  • Highly detailed models of all airport buildings, objects and surroundings
  • Up to date airport layout reflecting the current, real-world location
  • Custom built jetways with realistic variations using PBR texturing and animations, including gate number toppers
  • Fully animated JFK AirTrain between each terminal
  • Accurate representation of the famous Canarsie approach
  • Level of Detail (LOD) optimisation for every model to encourage the best performance possible
  • Use of the latest MSFS SDK features to allow for the best optimisation and performance possible
  • Custom static aircraft
  • Full iniManager compatibility to configure your scenery for the best possible performance for your system
  • Bespoke taxi signage as it is in the real world

Last, but not least, Orbx and indie developer Marcus Nyberg released version 2 of the relevant Swedish airport Gothenburg Landvetter (ESGG). It's currently available at Orbx's own store for a discounted price of $12.25, but if you already own version 1, you're entitled to a free update, which is how this should always be done.

  • Exquisitely detailed depiction of ESGG Gothenburg Landvetter Airport
  • Functional & correct VDGS systems
  • Animated jetways
  • Highly detailed ground poly with custom lines and markings
  • Enhanced interiors for terminal
  • Beautiful hand-coloured custom aerial imagery
  • Optional business jet statics
  • Updated GSE & Clutter
  • Animated vehicles with weather & time influenced appearance
  • New terminal extension
  • Completely AI-compatible
  • Snowbanks during certain winter conditions
  • Painstakingly optimized for very high performance
  • Included GSX profile
