Third-party developers had news and releases to share about Microsoft Flight Simulator add-ons, including airports and aircraft.

We start with FlyByWire, which provided a new video of its highly-anticipated freeware Airbus A380, showcasing the flex of its massive wings, alongside some information on it shared on the developer's discord server.

The A380 is an uncommon, huge kind of a plane… One wing is around 50 tons alone, and full of fuel it can reach around 150 tons. Yes, that’s more than the weight of two A320s… for each wing…

For such an unusual mass of fuel and metal, we are experimenting with a new wing flex system from scratch, that can simulate the bending of the wing all along its length, with possible different resonance modes from the root to the tip.

Each fuel tank has its own mass and position in the wing, and will drastically affect the wing physics, along with the position of each control surface. There’s still a lot of work to do, and the wing model is being reworked for full immersion, but we believe it’s the only way to bring you something as close as we possibly can to the real mighty A380!

Moving on to releases, Orbx launched St Helens Airport (YSTH) in Tasmania, Australia. It's currently available at the developer's own store for $5.41 promising the following:

  • Photorealistic textures
  • Custom vegetation
  • Custom Edge Lights
  • By Ken Hall

Another small airport comes from Colombia Regional Design, and it's Los Colonizadores Airport (SKSA) serving Saravena in Colombia. You can find it on Simmarket for $12.12 with the following features.

  • Premium markings and PBR textures
  • Updated Airport Layout.
  • Total reconstruction of the landscape and scenery from scratch.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is currently available for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Cloud Gaming, including Game Pass.
