Finally, Big Boss is back!

Sneaky, sneaky!

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, a prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, has been given a Spring 2014 release window. Konami has announced that it will be coming to consoles via retail and digital download. The game will have an MSRP of $29.99 for retail purchases on both generations of consoles, whereas the digital version on Xbox 360 and PS3 will only cost $19.99. Gamers wanting play digitally on PS4 and Xbox One, however, will also be required to pay the retail price.

Ground Zeroes focuses around Big Boss as he carries out a rescue mission in a Cuban prison camp. As per usual, things don't quite go his way, and he finds himself in an extremely dangerous and volatile situation, with little to no help to call upon.

Series Creator, Hideo Kojima, explains further:

"There will be a significant difference in what Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain brings to the series, so we want to ease players into the new open world environment and its potential, allowing them to fully benefit from all that the new game offers. As such, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes has been designed to introduce key elements, while setting up the events of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain."

Barring that price point, which seems strangely high for a single mission prologue, I couldn't be more excited unless they were sending me a free copy. Are you as excited as I am? If so, tell me why in the comments below!
