Hooded Horse and Battle Brothers developer Overhype have officially unveiled Menace, a new turn-based strategy RPG featuring "intense" turn-based combat and "existential horror".

Slated for release into Early Access in 2024, Overhype describes Menace as a "brutal tactical RPG" in which you must travel from planet to planet, answering distress calls and battling a terrifying enemy.

According to Overhype, Menace will take everything Battle Brothers fans love about the game, including its challenge, army management focus, and "dynamic sandbox gameplay" and improve it "tenfold".

Unlike Battle BrothersMenace will feature fully 3D environments, and enemies will challenge your strategic skill to the very limit.

You can check out the announcement trailer for Menace, which gives a flavor of the game's tactical gameplay and grim horror-inflected setting, right here.

Overhype is promising procedurally-generated operations containing multiple missions in Menace, as well as randomized characters to build into an elite combat force.

Battle maps will be large and "dynamic", with new suppression and cover mechanics to give you more options in combat. You'll also have plenty of options when it comes to vehicles, equipment, and supplies.

Overhype's first game Battle Brothers was released back in 2017 to broadly positive reviews. Today, it's still sitting at a Very Positive rating on Steam, having amassed more than 18,000 user reviews.

After its full release, Battle Brothers received three major paid DLC expansions, including Warriors of the North and Blazing Deserts.

Before that, though, Battle Brothers was in Early Access for almost two years. We don't yet know whether Menace will need to cook for that long, but we do know it's headed to Steam and the Epic Games Store sometime in 2024. Stay tuned for more.
