Today, Overhype Studios announced the latest DLC for Battle Brothers, titled Warriors of the North, which adds a new human faction to the north.
The new faction follows the "old ways", which means that they raid and sacrifice their prisoners to their "cruel gods". They're described as bringing a "regional flavor" to the northern portions of the map, as well as having the player fighting brigands at every stage of the game.
It's important to note that while it is a new DLC, it isn't to the scale of Beasts & Exploration, which also means that it won't take as long for the DLC to be released.
To summarize, the new DLC will feature a new human faction with their own unique fighting style and equipment, as well as different origins to pick for your company, "each with different starting characters, equipment and circumstances, as well as special rules that impact your campaign from beginning to end." There will also be new banners, armors, and helmets, a new legendary location, new contracts, and new events. Other "countless smaller editions" will be in the DLC, which will be explained in future developer blogs that begin next week.
Battle Brothers: Warriors of the North will be released later this year, probably Q2.
As someone who greatly enjoyed Battle Brothers in Early Access, I should really get back to playing it again. It still badly needs the addition of Steam Workshop, but the implementation of good DLC has really done a lot to extend the game's lifespan. I cannot overemphasize, though, that we really need modding tools. It's basically a turn-based Mount & Blade: Warband, and look what's been done with that franchise--mods have literally been turned into expansions. Just... do it! *flexes*
