Some sort of mysterious revamp is coming to Marvel's Midnight Suns, and a new trailer and new release date are expected to be revealed next month.
First announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2021, Marvel's Midnight Suns was expected to arrive in March 2022 and will feature cosmetic microtransactions and gameplay in the style of XCOM. Unfortunately, the game was delayed to the second half of 2022 -- and a new report hints at the reason for this delay.
The Mystery of the Marvel's Midnight Suns Revamp
As freelance journalist Tom Henderson reports at Try Hard Guides (via Reddit), a "revamp" is coming for Marvel's Midnight Suns and will be revealed next month.
It's unclear what the extent of this revamp will be. The initial gameplay reveals attracted a fair amount of criticism and concerns about microtransactions, the latter of which were addressed when Firaxis assured fans that there would only be cosmetic microtransactions in the game.
Other concerns about the gameplay centered around its apparent randomness; while tactical games like XCOM do have a degree of chance, it seems that the level of randomness was not well received by a portion of the potential fanbase.
Unfortunately, we don't yet know the extent of this revamp or what it will entail. It may involve tweaking the gameplay or it could be a wholesale redesign of the gameplay mechanics to bring it closer in line with something like XCOM. Firaxis Games has had a few extra months to tinker with this upcoming game, so pretty much anything is possible.
This report also claims that we should expect to see a new Marvel's Midnight Suns trailer and a new release date reveal arriving sometime in June 2022; the odds are good that we'll see this game make a debut at Summer Game Fest 2022. For now, you can learn more about this game on its official website and you can add Marvel's Midnight Suns to your wishlist on Steam.
