There's no need to worry about Marvel's Midnight Suns microtransactions — the game's developers have emphatically stated that you won't be able to purchase cards or affect game balance in any way.
Marvel's Midnight Suns was one of the many surprising reveals at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2021. This upcoming game will see heroes (and antiheroes) from the Marvel Comics universe battling against Lilith and her demonic forces. A new gameplay trailer dropped today and it had some players worried about how this game would handle microtransactions. Fortunately, the developers have clearly stated that you won't be able to buy any items that affect the gameplay.
Marvel's Midnight Suns Microtransactions Will Have 'No Loot Boxes'
Marvel's Midnight Suns microtransactions will be purely cosmetic according to the game's official Twitter account — this definitely won't be a pay-to-win game or anything of the sort.
"Hey folks, regarding our battle card system, there are no loot boxes in Marvel's @MidnightSuns or related microtransactions to get more cards (i.e. Gamma Coils)," read today's tweet. "We will have purely cosmetic character skins for purchase that do not affect game balance in any way[.]"
If you're wondering what prompted this response, that probably has something to do with what we saw in the official gameplay trailer seen above. A card system is used to determine the moves of your heroes. Some games will sell cards like these as microtransactions or include them in loot boxes. Fortunately, that won't be the case with Marvel's Midnight Suns.
Marvel's Midnight Suns is expected to launch on PC and consoles in March 2022. You can learn more about the game on its official website.
