Free Range and North Beach have announced their The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria release date.
The survival craft-'em-up, which was revealed in June last year, will launch for PC via the Epic Games Store, as well as PS5, on October 24th, as confirmed by the developers in a tweet earlier today.
In addition, an Xbox Series X|S version of the game is planned for "early 2024", according to the developers, although the exact release date has yet to be revealed.
The game will be set in the Fourth Age of Middle-earth, which takes place after the key events of the main The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
It sees the Dwarves of Moria set out to reclaim their home after a call is put out by none other than Gimli, the Fellowship's iconic dwarven contingent.
You (and, optionally, your co-op buddies) will play as a Dwarf of Moria, and it'll be your job to mine your way through the land of Dwarrowdelf, excavating it for resources.
As well as mining the area for resources, you'll also be able to construct a base from which to forge forward with expeditions into the heart of Khazad-dûm.
You'd better beware, though, because you'll be contending with "unspeakable evils" and "hordes of monstrous Orcs". After all, just because the perils of the Third Age are behind you, that doesn't mean you're safe.
Naturally, you'll be crafting Dwarven armor, weapons, and tools, as well as rebuilding forges to help you upgrade and enchant your gear. In short, if you love games like Valheim or Deep Rock Galactic, this game sounds like it'll be right up your alley (or, indeed, down your mine shaft).
The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria launches for PC and PlayStation 5 on October 24th. The Xbox Series X|S version will follow at a later date.
