This time around, each of the game's 30 songs are split into 5 different categories - each based off of a personality of Hatsune Miku.

Following in the footsteps of SEGA's western releases of Project DIVA F/f, Project DIVA F 2nd, and Project Mirai DX, SEGA has confirmed that the latest in their line of Hatsune Miku (and friends) branded rhythm games will be coming to the west later this fall on both Playstation 4 and Vita systems. While the core rhythm game remains more or less the same as previous Project DIVA releases, Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X adds in a bit of story to the experience, and relegates each of the game's 30 songs to a specific "cloud" representing the 5 main interpretations of Hatsune Miku's created personality - Classic, Cool, Cute, Elegant, and Quirky

Each of these "clouds" also have at least one "medley" song for each that you can unlock, taking portions of 4 or 5 popular songs that aren't available in the game, and mixing them together into one remix that players can enjoy. Players will also be able to make their own medley's by using the new Concert Editor feature. Additionally, another change that Project DIVA X brings to the table is a change to how Modules - the various different costumes that you can put your dancers in - are unlocked, turning them into RNG-based drop items as opposed to items purchasable via the in-game shop.

SEGA of America has prepared a trailer for todays announcement; complete with an overview of many of the features that've been newly added to the title. It doesn't go over everything that's been added or changed, but it does mention most of the important stuff - namely, the story mode and the new medleys system.

For those of you that still might be a little lost; TechRaptor reviewed Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd back in 2014 (I wonder who was the handsome chap that got that review done?), and since the core gameplay is mostly the same (based off of the several hours I've put into an import copy of Project DIVA X) , it's definitely worth checking out if you're at all interested or intrigued by the series. You can find that review here.

As for western regions outside of North America... today's announcement only confirms that the game will be coming to North America; SEGA has not announced plans to release the game in Europe as of yet. That being said; Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X will release digitally and physically on Playstation 4 and Vita (that includes PSTV!) in North America this fall.
