Today Supergiant Games announced that its beloved roguelike dungeon crawler Hades will be made available for iOS.
According to the announcement, the game is coming "sometime in 2024," with more details to be unveiled closer to launch.
Yet, there is a catch. The iOS version of Hades will be exclusive to Netflix Games "for the foreseeable future," so if you'd rather not subscribe to the streaming giant and buy the game separately, you're pretty much out of luck.
The same can be said if your mobile platform of choice is an Android smartphone or tablet, with Supergiant saying that they "appreciate the interest" but they're not planning additional versions of Hades at this time.
This appears to be part of an intentional effort from Netflix to add more core games to its subscription platform. While it does include a number of gems, the lion's share is still taken by casual games and tie-ins.
The port is in development by Secret 6, which recently helped with the development of Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story. As for the control scheme, the game supports customizable touch controls and controllers hooked up via Bluetooth.
Cloud saves are supported alongside achievements, but there won't be any cross-save with other platforms. While full system requirements will come at a later date, the developers mention that the game should "run great on an iPhone or iPad running iOS 16 or later."
If you're unfamiliar with Hades, it's a highly-acclaimed roguelike dungeon crawler released by Supergiant Games for PC and Nintendo Switch in 2020 and then for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S the year later in 2021.
